Cable TV Set top box information is provided here. There are come remote key combinations to do various things with the box such as pull up the diagnostics displays or to format the hard drive in a PVR.
These are not specific to any particular Cable Company so they may or may not work for you. Most of them should work for most consumers.

Format Drive:
1. Turn Box On 2. Press Power on remote then OK (Have about 2 seconds to press Ok after you press Power) 3. Press Replay 4. Press List three Times(Might be DVR Button on some remotes) 5. Press Live TV 6. Press OK(Select on some remotes) After about 5-10 minutes the box should say "Clr" on the display, go ahead and turn on the box. |
Format Drive:
1. Hold Pause until Message light blinks on set top 2. Press Page Down 3. Press List three times "hddf" should appear on the set top box display, let it sit there and it should format the drive and automatically reboot. |

View Diagnostics Screen:
1. Turn Box On 2. Press Power on remote then OK (Have about 2 seconds to press Ok after you press Power) |
View Diagnostics Display:
1. Hold Pause until Message Light blinks on set top 2. Press Page Up. 3. Use Page Up and Page Down to cycle through the pages. Number of pages depends on model. |
